When you're expecting, the internet will tell you that you need a lot of stuff. A changing table. A changing unit. A changing station for downstairs. A travel changing kit...
Here's what nobody tells you: in those early months, you don't stay in one room. You follow the light, the sofa, the kettle and, on a good day, the park. So we designed something that follows you.
Meet the Seedling
The Seedling is our baby changing basket, made from natural seagrass with sturdy handles so you can pick it up and go. Pop our Acorn cotton liner inside and you've got a soft, wipeable-by-washing-machine changing spot wherever you happen to land. Yay!
No plastic. No fold-out legs. No assembly instructions with a mysterious spare screw.
Morning - the nursery
Most days start here. The Seedling sits happily on a chest of drawers, a dresser or the floor, with nappies and wipes tucked within reach. It looks like part of the room, not a piece of hospital equipment, which matters more than you'd think at 6am.
Midday - the living room
Bring the basket downstairs. A change on the living room rug means you're still in the room with the big kids, the dog, or the telly you were half-watching.

Afternoon - the park
Sophie used to take her basket to Bushy Park and this is where the Seedling really earns its place. Grab it by the handles, throw a blanket over your arm and head out. On the picnic rug it becomes a familiar, comfy spot for changes and for a bit of supervised wriggle time while you finally eat that croissant.

Autumn is the perfect season for it - the light is golden, the parks are quieter.
Why one thing beats a lot of things
We started Earthling because we were tired of buying plastic baby kit that got used for six months and then lived in the loft forever. One beautiful, natural basket that works in every room means less stuff and less waste.
And when the changing days are over? It makes a gorgeous home for toys, blankets or a growing book collection.
